Install and execute ATMEL FLIP software.This is the default DFU firmware loaded in the ATMEGA16U2 microcontroller chip. You should see the ATmega16U2 device in the Win7 Device Manager. When you first purchase a legitimate ATMEL ATMEGA16U2 chip, it is actually loaded with a default DFU firmware. This article is written as a guide to loading an Arduino bootloader or firmware onto a brand new ATMEL microcontroller IC chip.
